Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve answered some of the questions we’re most often asked about our knitwear, sizing, orders, delivery and returns.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, please get in touch — we’re always happy to help.

Where is Dingle Woollen Company based?

Dingle Woollen Company is located in the heart of Dingle, Co. Kerry, on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way.

Our family business also includes McKenna’s of Dingle on Main Street.

Is all of your knitwear made in Ireland?

We stock a carefully selected range of knitwear, clothing and accessories from a number of Irish brands and suppliers.

The origin of individual products can vary, so we recommend checking the product description for specific information about the brand, materials and where an item is made.

If you would like to know more about a particular product, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

What brands do you stock?

Our collections include knitwear and accessories from established Irish brands including Ireland’s Eye Knitwear, Aran Woollen Mills, Aran Crafts and other carefully selected suppliers.

Brands and collections can change throughout the year as new styles arrive.

How do I choose the right knitwear size?

Sizing can vary slightly between brands and styles, particularly with natural wool and knitted garments.

Our Knitwear Size Guide provides approximate sizing for women’s, men’s and children’s knitwear.

We also recommend checking the individual product description before ordering. If you’re between sizes or unsure about the fit of a particular garment, please contact us and we’ll be happy to advise.

What types of wool do you sell?

Depending on the garment, our collections can include Merino wool, lambswool, pure new wool, Donegal tweed and wool blends.

Each has a different feel, weight and character.

Visit our Wool & Knitwear Guide to learn more about the different fibres and materials you may find in our collections.

How should I care for my wool knitwear?

Always follow the care label on the individual garment first, as washing instructions can vary between products.

Wool generally benefits from gentle washing and does not need to be washed after every wear. Many wool garments can simply be aired between wears.

When washing, avoid excessive heat, rubbing, twisting or wringing. Reshape knitwear while damp and dry flat unless the care label advises otherwise.

You can find more detailed advice in our Wool Care Guide.

Is pilling normal on wool knitwear?

Yes. Small balls of fibre, known as pilling, can naturally develop on wool and other soft fibres, particularly in areas where the garment experiences friction.

Pilling does not necessarily indicate a fault with the garment and can usually be carefully removed with a wool comb or suitable fabric shaver.

How quickly will my order be dispatched?

We aim to dispatch online orders within one business day.

Delivery times vary depending on the destination. Full estimated delivery times and current shipping charges can be found on our Shipping, Returns & Exchanges page.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship to a range of international destinations.

Shipping rates and delivery times vary by country.

Shipping to the USA is currently available on selected items. Please contact us before ordering if you require delivery to the United States and we can advise you on the available options.

Can I return an item?

Yes. Returns are accepted in accordance with our returns policy.

Items should be returned unworn, unused and in their original condition with tags attached.

Please read our Shipping, Returns & Exchanges page before returning an item, as it contains our current return instructions and conditions.

What if my item is faulty or incorrect?

If you receive an item that is faulty, damaged or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible.

Include your order details and, where possible, photographs showing the issue so that we can help resolve it quickly.

Can I change or cancel an order?

If you need to change or cancel an order, please contact us as soon as possible.

Because we aim to dispatch orders quickly, we cannot guarantee that an order can be changed once it has been prepared or dispatched.

Are colours exactly the same as they appear online?

We make every effort to photograph and display our products as accurately as possible.

However, colours can appear slightly different depending on your screen settings, lighting and the natural characteristics of wool and other fibres.

There can also be subtle variations between dye lots.
